Ithaca College is searching for ways to make our school more affordable, and is asking for recommendations from faculty and students to help achieve this goal. Divest IC has been collecting comments about why divestment is the best option for Ithaca College to increase its financial benefits. One student wrote, “Schools endowments are being put in the spotlight by this national divestment movement and Ithaca College is putting itself in the line of fire by investing in fossil fuel companies. If this campaign existed while I was applying to college I KNOW that I would take its investments into consideration and I know that current and future students will do the same.” Another student spoke with President Rochon at today’s open house for feedback, letting him know that over a dozen members of the coalition had submitted comments regarding the financial viability of divestment. Over 800 students, parents, faculty and alumni agree: divestment is the right choice.
